Dashea L. Farber-Socolof trained extensively at a local company that specialized in custom airbrush tans, applying 15 to 20 tans a day for more than two years there before starting Tanique. Every service includes a PH balancing spray and pre and post care, and the studio advises on how to prepare before a session and care for the tan afterward so it lasts longer. The business says it aims for no orange tones, streaks or uneven fading, and describes airbrush tanning as a healthy alternative to UV tanning that avoids UV rays.
A typical session takes about 25 to 35 minutes. Disposable earplugs, nose plugs and face masks are provided for use during the tan. Before a session clients are asked to exfoliate, remove makeup, deodorant and lotions, shave 24 hours ahead and wax 24 to 48 hours ahead, and to wear dark, loose clothing and bring dark swimwear or undergarments. Afterward, the studio advises avoiding showers, exercise and sweating for eight hours, moisturizing daily with a mineral oil free lotion, and avoiding hot tubs and chlorinated water.
Tans are tailored to each client's skin undertones, with pre and post care included so the color can develop and last. The business describes its results as natural and aims to avoid orange tones and streaks.
