Swank Salon was established in 2008 by Vernessa Mathurin, and the name was chosen after a friend recommended it from several options. The studio is at Image Studios in McKinney and works by appointment only.
Each appointment is one-on-one. Before booking, clients have a Zoom consultation with the stylist to choose a color, style or cut. Once the visit is done, the stylist suggests an at-home care package and books the next appointment.
The space is set up to feel calm, with music playing and essential oils diffused. For scalp care, steam treatments and peppermint oil are part of the process, according to a client review. The studio also sells products for at-home hair care.
Services are grouped into color, curls, cutting, natural styling, scalp treatment, straightening and updos. Curl work ranges from natural techniques such as coiling and twists to perm rods, flexi-rods or magnetic rollers for more uniform curls.
Each visit is planned in advance through a video consultation and continued with at-home care between appointments.
Music and essential oils create a soothing, relaxing setting.
