Surya Spa was founded in 2008 by Kate, who had worked in busier Seattle spas before opening her own studio. The studio was set up to focus on one client at a time, with each visit planned around that person.

The studio is in Magnolia, a few minutes from downtown Seattle. Clients coming from downtown head north on Elliott Avenue West, cross the Magnolia Bridge, and continue along Magnolia Boulevard to Howe Street. The entrance is a green door at the end of the driveway. Appointments are by appointment only, seven days a week, with start times from 8am to 7pm.

Treatments range from quick dermaplaning and peel visits to longer facials with aromatherapy, massage and masks, along with microneedling, microdermabrasion, lash and brow services and a full waxing menu. Microneedling uses a sterile single-use tip on an automated pen, and a complimentary consultation is offered to confirm whether a client is a good candidate.

The spa makes its own botanical line, Surya Spa Botanicals, in small batches on site and uses those products in its treatments. Products are sold at the studio, and home delivery orders are placed by email. Custom aromatherapy body lotions, oils and sprays can be ordered on request.

Booking terms: cancellations with at least 24 hours notice avoid a late fee, shorter notice is charged half the service price, and no-shows or cancellations under 4 hours are charged the full price. Accepted payment includes cash, check, credit card with a 3% fee, Zelle and spa gift certificates, which can be bought for any amount.
