Visits are by appointment only, booked online through GenBook or by phone or text. Sisterlocks clients start with a consultation, which can be in person or virtual; the salon asks consultation clients to bring three photos of Sisterlocks they like. The final price is set at consultation based on hair density, length, head size and the desired loc size, with a base cost of $1,000. A full installation takes between 24 and 36 hours, and the salon's calendar is closed to other clients that day. Installation can't be scheduled until one week after consultation, and hair must be shampooed and lightly blow dried within 24 hours beforehand, with no oils, grease or conditioner. Clients with relaxed or permed hair can begin Sisterlocks once they have 2-3 inches of natural hair, while clients with traditional locs are steered toward an interlocking method instead. People who had Sisterlocks installed elsewhere are welcome and receive a mini-assessment at their first retightening.
Beyond Sisterlocks, the menu covers retightening, perimeter work, reattachment, repair of grids and holes, Interlocs maintenance, starter locs, rewists, box braids, knotless box braids, two strand twists, passion twists, cornrows, faux locs, comb coils and curls or updos. Retightening is usually planned on a 4-6 week schedule, and clients are encouraged to book their next retightening in advance. Each transfer client is given a unique Sisterlocks pattern during installation, which they can ask about. Cancellations or changes made with less than 48 hours notice may carry a $35 fee, and installation deposits are final and non-transferable.
Sisterlocks is the salon's core method, a trademarked technique it says is built on grid mastery, technique and repair. The salon lists convenience, client education, respect, judgment-free service and integrity among its core values.
Clients can use complimentary WiFi and a phone charging station, watch premium TV channels or streaming services, and enjoy coffee, tea and snacks, with stations cleaned after each client.
