Summit Salon Academy Portland

Summit Salon Academy Portland trains students in esthetics, hair design and nail technology. The school's esthetics program covers facial treatments, from full prescriptive facials to 20-minute micro treatments, and students practice on a local natural product line.

The hair design program focuses on cutting and styling, including angles and elevation, and is taught with Baxter of California. Students work with Pulp Riot and Matrix haircolor, and Redken and Matrix retail products are featured in the program. The curriculum also includes instruction on L'Oreal Professional Products Division brands. The nail technology program uses Essie products for hands-on learning.

Students can combine the hair design, esthetics and nail technology programs. Each student meets one-on-one with a coach every month, and guest educators from large brands, the Summit Salon Business Center and local salons teach classes. Students also receive coaching on building a business through social media from the first day, and they track daily and weekly business results with the Summit Social Digital Planner.

Clients booking at the school's salon can choose facials and injectable services, including wrinkle relaxer, filler, lip fillers and Trap 'Tox, which the school also calls Barbie Botox. Graduates are eligible for advanced classes, including airbrush makeup and social media strategy. The school says its business education is unmatched elsewhere.

Students perform services under licensed instructors, with business and social media training built into each program.
