Hawley Lopes founded Sugared after refining her sugaring technique, and the studio operates from one location on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. The studio describes itself as Lake Tahoe's premier sugaring studio, and says it aims for a culture of excellence while valuing productivity, transparency and clean beauty.

About

Sugaring uses a paste made from sugar, lemon juice and water. Hair should be about an eighth of an inch long, which the studio says is typically seven to fourteen days after shaving, so clients are asked not to shave between visits and to avoid sun exposure for 24 hours before and after. Each client receives a fresh ball of paste applied with a gloved hand. The studio calls sugaring the gentlest and longest-lasting hair removal option it offers and says it is safe for very sensitive skin. Areas covered include underarms, arms, legs, bikini and Brazilian, cheeks, back, chest, abdomen, face and lip. Sugaring bundles pair two areas in one visit at a set price, maintenance rates apply when the last service was within four weeks, and a Brazilian post-sugar treatment is offered on its own and recommended a week after sugaring.

Clients describe their skin concerns and the studio designs a results-based facial around them. The Illuminating Glow Facials come in three tiers that build from dermaplaning, LED light and a hydrojelly mask up to a version that adds a hydrofacial, lifting cold therapy and a hand facial. Holistic facials are customized and may include ultrasonic scrubbing, extractions, cold therapy, LED light, and gua sha or Hungarian massage. HydroFacials are performed by a trained technician using a vacuum-style hand piece. The LED acne and anti-aging facial is suggested as a series of three sessions, and a growing and glowing facial adds body brushing and a foot massage.

Chemical peels are offered with Lira Clinical and Sorella Apothecary products, as single sessions or as a three-part progressive series that includes a full-size recovery mask. Every peel comes with a SUGARED after-peel care kit, and the esthetician selects the strength and ingredients. The studio says its peels are mostly painless with little downtime. It lists recovery of about four to five days after moderate peels and five to seven days after aggressive ones, and it offers gentler versions of aggressive peels aimed at similar results more gradually. Peels are not offered to clients with active cold sores or warts, open wounds, sunburn, excessive sensitivity, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea, autoimmune disease, Accutane use within the past year, skin cancer or pregnancy. Clients who have not had a Mineral Retinol Solution or Mineral TCA Rebuilder at SUGARED in the past three months are asked to take a home care kit.

Brow services include design, tint, henna, lamination and combinations of these, and the design services use Chella brow product. Lash services cover removal, fills and full sets in classic, hybrid, volume, specialty and mega styles, along with lash lifts with or without tint. Makeup services include a consultation and trial, and looks for bridal, wedding guests, special events and daytime or nighttime parties. The studio sells retail skin care products, has an online shop, and sells gift certificates through Vagaro. Appointments can be booked online or by phone or text at (530) 208-7220, and the studio is open Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM, and closed Sundays. Cancellations need 24 hours notice, late cancellations are charged half the balance of the service, and clients are asked to arrive five minutes early.
