The paste is made from sugar, lemon juice, and water, with no synthetic chemicals, resins, or artificial additives. It is water-soluble and applied at body temperature. Application and removal are done by hand rather than with strips, and the salon says the paste grips the hair rather than the skin around it.

Hair is removed from the root in the direction it grows. The salon asks that hair be at least a quarter inch long for the best results, and recommends letting it grow two to three weeks after shaving before booking. Each session is adjusted to skin type, hair texture, and how comfortable the client is.

The salon describes sugaring as an ancient Middle Eastern method of hair removal. It says that with consistent sessions, regrowth tends to become finer and sparser over time, and that leg results generally last about two to four weeks.
