The salon grew out of a small beauty shop that Lisa Mulzac opened in her home in 1994, the year she finished beauty school. The business now operates from its Flatbush Avenue location and serves clients of all hair types and backgrounds, with dreadlocks at its core.

Visits usually begin with a free consultation, by phone or in person, to talk through the hair and what the client wants before booking. Prices are set individually, based on volume, size and length of hair, and a total can be requested before services begin. Fees are paid when services are finished, and prices are confirmed when the appointment arrives.

The dreadlock menu covers retwists, wash and retwist, interlocking, starter and instant dreadlocks, two-strand twists, temporary dreadlocks, extensions, re-attachment and repairs. Washes finish with an herbal conditioner and an oil treatment. The salon does not put in faux locs or take out existing locs.

The salon is open Tuesday through Sunday and takes appointments up to a month ahead. Cancellations need a phone call at least 24 hours in advance, and a client more than 20 minutes late without contacting the salon will have the appointment rescheduled. Parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times. The salon states that client satisfaction is its top priority and that much of its business comes from repeat clients and referrals.
