Styled by Key takes bookings by phone at 313-799-5249. Appointments are held with a $25 non-refundable deposit, which is applied to the services booked. The deposit must be paid within 24 hours of scheduling or the appointment is released.

The menu is organized into service groupings: Boho styles, box braids, braid and twist touch-ups, crochet styles, feed-in and knotless braids, individual braids, kids' styles, locs, natural styles, soft locs and butterfly locs, take-down services, and twist styles. A separate grouping is labeled for men.

Because hair length and thickness affect the time and hair needed, the studio sets a booking standard of mid-back length (32 or 42 inches, depending on the style). Lower back length is listed at 52 inches and waist length at 60 inches. Hair that is extremely long or thick, or that needs special accommodation, may cost more.

Clients approve the finished style before service ends, and the style is shown during and at the end of the appointment. Refunds are not given once service is complete, so any concerns about the style need to be raised within 7 days of the appointment; after that, the client may be charged to fix the braids.

Late arrivals are handled by policy: appointments more than 15 minutes late may be cancelled with the deposit forfeited, though a $25 late fee can be paid to keep the appointment. Rescheduling needs at least 24 hours notice for the deposit to carry over, and each deposit covers one reschedule within two weeks. Clients who miss an appointment without a call cannot reschedule, and a $35 deposit is needed to rebook after the studio cancels without notice. The studio may refuse service to clients who are irate, extremely intoxicated, or causing harm.
