Studio SKIN began in April 2014 as a sole proprietorship, first in a single room at the rear of a law office, where it stayed for five years. It then spent two years in the space above its current address. Jimmy and Holly Wasiela bought the building at 10 South Buffalo Street in 2012, after it had been vacant, and the renovated studio opened there in mid 2021. Jimmy and Holly Wasiela bought the building at 10 South Buffalo Street in 2012, after it had been vacant, and the renovated studio opened there in mid 2021. Earlier tenants of the building included a poodle shop, a cigar parlor, a taxi service and a shoe cobbler.

The studio aims to give each guest a distinct experience built on quality, kindness and luxury that stays affordable. Skincare here is a team effort: the more the esthetician knows about a guest, the more she can help. The studio serves guests from age 12 to 100. Youth facials for ages 12 to 18 are offered, and a parent or guardian must be present.

A first visit to the studio starts with a consultation. New guests complete a full skin analysis and sign a skin consultation form before their facial. Guests who are unsure which treatment they need can book a free phone consultation, and guests who had a facial or Hydrafacial in the previous three months can book a free consultation on their home routine and products. Guests can also join a virtual waiting list for openings near their availability.

The studio is open by appointment on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Rescheduling needs at least 48 hours' notice, and appointments not canceled within 24 hours are charged in full. No-shows must prepay for all future appointments, and the practitioner decides whether to accept the booking. Young children are not accommodated, and guests are asked to keep phones silent during visits. There is no private parking lot, so guests use village lots or street parking on South Buffalo Street. Services cannot be given to the face while a cold sore is active or healing.

Gift cards are nonrefundable and can only be used by the esthetician for the service purchased. Online eGift cards come in amounts of $25, $50, $75, $100 or a custom amount. The studio sells Dr. Dennis Gross Vitamin C Lactic Dewy Deep Cream, and product pickup is available at the studio, free of charge, by appointment.

Built on a team approach to skincare, in which a fuller understanding of each guest's history supports the recommendations made, with an emphasis on quality, kindness and an individual experience.
