Straightening is the core of the work. Japanese permanent straightening starts at $275, and a first treatment takes at least four hours (the booking page lists four and a half). A retouch is usually needed every six to eight months. Keratin treatments are priced from $280 to $425 in the semi-permanent range, and clients can ask for a preferred keratin brand. Brazilian Blowout and keratin treatments are smoothing rather than straightening, and they use protein to smooth the outer layer of the hair; they last roughly six weeks to five months depending on the treatment and hair texture. The salon also offers Japanese digital perms, including partial perms, and a Japanese head spa.
Beyond straightening, the studio offers custom color design, block color and highlights from $225, with the final price depending on the products used, hair length and density. Color work can include balayage, bleach and tone, babylights, and root touch-ups or grey coverage. Haircuts cover custom designs and curly cuts, and there are sew-in and tape-in extensions, styles, half-up and full updos, and bridal updos. Coloring lessons with take-home color or gloss are available too.
Every first-time client begins with a short phone consultation before an in-person appointment. The call takes about five minutes, and new clients are asked to send a photo of their natural, unstyled hair along with a five-year history of chemical services. Clients are asked to arrive five to ten minutes early. Cancellations made 24 hours or less before an appointment are charged the full service price, and no-shows without notice are charged the full price of the missed service. The salon also offers consulting and training for stylists and salons on Japanese straightening, starting at $1000 per day, with travel within and outside the United States.
Education comes first: the owner trains in non-toxic, FDA-approved, formaldehyde-free straightening and keratin methods, has spent years researching keratin products, and does not use sodium hydroxide.
