Spray Tan Lounge

Spray Tan Lounge started as a spray tanning business founded by Emily Pederson, who also built the studio space. The studio is meant to feel safe, respectful and judgment-free, and the business describes itself as Vancouver's most inclusive spot for spray tanning.

Each tan is airbrushed and the solution is custom-mixed to suit the client's skin undertones. A priming mist goes on before the tan and a soft setting powder after. Every STL Spray Tan Experience includes disposable undergarments, hair ties and makeup wipes. Clients are asked to wear dark, loose clothing and to avoid lotion, deodorant and makeup beforehand. Men wear undergarments during the tan, while women can wear as much or as little as they like. Other services such as waxing, facials and manicures should be booked at least 24 hours before a spray tan.

There are two spray tan formulas. The Original Formula is sugar-based and needs 8 to 10 hours of development before rinsing. The Rapid Formula can be rinsed in 2 to 4 hours depending on the depth of tan wanted, and the business says it gives the same lasting tan as the Original.

Teeth whitening uses a light-accelerated gel. The business describes the gel as all natural, preservative-free, plant and mineral-based, vegan, gluten-free and not tested on animals, with a food-grade hydrogen peroxide product as its active ingredient. The business states the gel is FDA approved and that it is a registered member of the Holistic Dental Association. Clients must be 16 or older, and the treatment does not work on veneers, fillings or false teeth.

The Self Love Club membership is $25 per month and requires a three-month commitment, then continues month to month. Members get 50% off unlimited spray tans each month, 25% off teeth whitening, 10% off retail and a free birthday tan. STL Girls Night Out is a group session with a custom tan for each guest, a $10 discount per tan, sparkling wine or cider, sweet treats and a goodie bag. The studio also offers sunless training, an 8-hour session that includes a survival guide, a catered lunch, a swag bag and certification in the Art of Airbrush Tanning.
