Spalation

Spalation is a massage spa in the Kansas City area, a short drive from the airport and about fifteen minutes from downtown. The spa says its approach blends medical expertise with a spa experience, with the aim of supporting health and reducing stress. It welcomes men and women who come to relax or who are working toward a specific goal.

A visit starts with a foot ritual and a snack or beverage, and clients choose the music style, aromatherapy scent, lotion or oil, and drink for their session. Massages are hands-on and run 60 or 90 minutes; booked times of 75 or 105 minutes include 15 extra minutes for the foot ritual, changing and refreshments. A request for a particular therapist or gender can be noted at booking, though therapists may occasionally be swapped. Therapists are self-employed. Tipping is not required but is customary, and therapists may decline future bookings from clients who do not tip appropriately.

The spa is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 8 PM, with last appointments at 6:30 PM; hours may change on major holidays. Phone booking is available at any time, and online booking is limited. Changes or cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead, and no-shows, are charged 30% of the booked total to the card on file. Online changes need 24 hours' notice, and a deposit moves to a new time only if rescheduled that far ahead. Cash payments receive a $5.00 discount, which does not apply to gift cards. Service may be refused to anyone intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, or who is disrespectful to staff. Gift cards can be bought at the spa during opening hours, and e-gift certificates work toward any massage package, expire 12 months after purchase, are non-refundable and can be passed to another person.
