Southern Marin Dermatology was started in 2013 by Dr. Ashley Smith and Dr. Shala Fardin. The clinic says it is a full-service practice that is led by women, and it brings medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology together under one roof with board-certified dermatologists on the team.

The office is on the third floor of the Marinship Way building, with free parking and electric car charging on site. Hours run Monday through Friday with a midday break. Visitors coming from Bridgeway should turn onto West Harbor Drive and take the first right onto Marinship Way, which is southbound only near the Bay Model. Patients can use an online portal, and the office offers quick insurance verification and courtesy billing. Virtual skincare consultations with licensed estheticians are also available.

Facial and skin treatments are performed by clinical estheticians who are trained in medical esthetics and directly supervised by board-certified dermatologists. Those dermatologists also approve esthetician safety protocols and back-bar products. Existing patients can have their esthetician consult their provider and review their history before a treatment.

The clinic says Marin Magazine named it Best Cosmetic Dermatology, announced August 5, 2026, and Best Dermatologist in Marin for six consecutive years, announced March 2, 2026. It also says it was the first in Marin to offer Sofwave.
