Soullovey is a private salon at street level in the historic Ballou & Wright building in Portland's Pearl District. The salon describes its space as discreet and design-forward, and describes itself as luxe.

The salon names the health and integrity of hair as a core value. It aims for looks that balance aesthetics with structural integrity, drawing on chemistry, color theory and experience. The salon says its approach is more thorough than the same-named services at a typical salon.

Visits are by appointment only, and walk-ins are not offered. Before a visit, clients are asked to arrive with clean hair in a natural state, without braids, buns, ponytails or product, and to bring three inspiration photos plus three photos of looks they want to avoid. Clients may be asked to arrive up to 15 minutes early, wait in their car until they are texted, and then be let in by staff. One guest is allowed, and clients are asked to come alone. Wine, champagne, water, tea and light snacks are offered, and clients can bring their own refreshments, especially for transformative color or color correction. A personal entertainment tablet with common streaming services is available, and private WiFi is offered for clients who want to work during appointments.

Blonde services are personalized, with tone chosen around cool or warm shades and each client's natural features. Brunette services aim for balanced tone, seamless placement and dimension suited to each client's complexion, features and lifestyle. Color correction starts with a review of hair history, current condition and the desired color, followed by a tailored plan carried out in steps that lift where needed, refine tone and rebuild strength.

Booking terms include a non-refundable deposit, a percentage of the service cost applied to the final balance, and extension clients place a $500 deposit. Cancellations within 72 hours incur a 50% fee, and same-day cancellations or no-call, no-show appointments incur 100% of the service cost. Changes must be made by email or text. Card payments carry a 3% processing fee, while cash, Venmo and Zelle are accepted with no added fee. Street parking is paid through the ParkingKitty app. The salon also offers private one-on-one training for stylists, by inquiry.
