Sören Loeffler, the salon's owner and creative director, began his career with Vidal Sassoon in Frankfurt, Germany, after an apprenticeship there. He rose to senior stylist in Germany, and the salon says he was named Germany's 'Top Stylist of the Quarter' several times. He later moved to Chicago in the late 1990s, was promoted to assistant creative director within the Vidal Sassoon organization, and was then asked to move to Atlanta to serve as creative director there.

Sören Salon was built around a goal Loeffler had held for a long time: opening a salon where his demanding standards could be carried out in every appointment. The salon describes its atmosphere as a blend of creativity and professionalism, and it says it is on Elle Magazine's list of the top 100 salons in the United States.

The menu is organized into color services, haircuts, styling, and extensions and smoothing treatments. Color work covers tone, single process color, partial and full highlights, balayage and color correction, with color correction priced after a consultation. Smoothing options include Global Keratin, Hair Botox, Brazilian Blowout and a Double Dip hybrid treatment, and extensions are also priced after a consultation.

Emerging stylists offer many of the same services at lower starting prices, and online prices are base rates that can change based on a stylist's experience and the consultation. Clients who are unsure which stylist to book can speak with a salon coordinator before their first visit. The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00AM to 7:00PM, Saturday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, and on Sundays by appointment only; it is closed on Mondays.
