Solo Salon operates two locations in the West Loop of Chicago. It was started by Kristine Singer after close to ten years working in hair. Clients travel in from throughout the city, among them people from Roscoe Village, Gold Coast, River North, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, West Town and the South Loop.

Hair is the core of the menu. Cuts, bang trims, barbering, blow dries, curl sets, upstyles and express styles are all offered, along with color that runs from single process and lightening to balayage, foliage, lived-in and dimensional work, gloss color enhancement and corrective color. Hair extensions come in tape-in, tab and sew-in, and K-tip and I-tip forms, and the salon offers a complimentary consultation before extension services. Corrective color also begins with a free consultation, which is booked by phone. Cut & Style includes a shampoo and basic blow dry, and a small extra fee may apply for additional styling.

Texture services include Kerastase treatments, a K18 mask, a Bond Builder mask, a Keratin Complex treatment, relaxers, perms and smoothing. Face services cover brow shaping, tinting and lamination, lash lifts, lash extensions with touch-ups and packages, and full-face makeup in airbrush or traditional application. Waxing for the face, body and intimate areas is available, along with spray tanning in single sessions or multi-session packages of three or five.

For weddings, the salon styles bridal hair with trials, does bridal makeup, and handles flower girl styling, wedding styling and event styling for Chicago brides. Workshops, education classes, hosted classes and executive coaching with Kristine Singer are also offered. Separately, Kristine started Solo Headquarters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises awareness of mental health.

Its stated aims are new ideas, learning, mutual respect and enjoying the work.

The salon describes its space as inclusive, a place where everyone should feel at home.
