Soleil Studio

Soleil Studio is a private studio in Grand Rapids where Hali is the owner and the only stylist. The building has parking in front and is accessible, and the studio is located between Gino's Pizza and Dairy Queen. Clients can ask accessibility questions by text or email before booking, and silent appointments can be requested at booking or by message.

The studio describes itself as welcoming to queer clients and says it does not tolerate homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia or hate speech. It is a Strands For Trans affiliate. Haircuts run from one to two hours depending on hair length, thickness and the change in style, and a trim counts as a haircut. Color appointments run two to four hours, or across several sessions when needed, and start after a consultation covering hair type, texture, length, color history and budget. Fashion color is not offered, and those clients are referred to other stylists.

Booking requires a card, which is kept on file for no-call, no-show protection. The card is charged when a service is completed, or when a no-call, no-show occurs. Cancellations within 48 hours are charged half the service price, same-day cancellations are charged the full appointment price, and arriving more than 15 minutes late without notice counts as a no-show. Email and text are answered during business hours from Tuesday through Saturday. Phone calls are not taken, and Instagram messages are not checked for booking or consultations.

New clients are not accepted for color at first; they start with the 1 1/2 hour New Client Cut, which includes consultation, cut, wash and style. Return clients can book a one hour cut or a half hour maintenance visit for touch-ups, dry trims on layers and face frame, and clipper cuts under two inches. Blowouts are 30 minutes and include a wash, hair mask and blowout. Pricing is a flat hourly rate, and the site notes that no tipping is involved.

Each appointment is one on one with no double booking, and cuts are shaped to fit how the client styles and lives with their hair.
