Sola Salons rents suites to independent professionals rather than employing them. Each suite is a private, self-contained room that a renter can run as their own business. The suites are move-in ready and fully furnished, so renters can start working without buying furniture or building out a room. Suites are offered to hairstylists, estheticians, medical estheticians, lash technicians, barbers, nail technicians and permanent makeup artists, and also to massage therapists, medical professionals, chiropractors, psychiatrists, IV therapists and wellness practitioners.

Sola presents suite renting as an alternative to working inside a traditional salon. Renters set up and manage their own businesses, and the company provides the space and support around them. Each studio is an independently owned and operated franchise, and each professional or business renting a suite is independently owned and operated too. Sola states that it is not responsible for the operations, employment or personnel matters of franchise owners or independent professionals.

Renters receive a start-up manual with forms, tips and information for setting up a business. It covers the salon license, other licenses and permits, and studio setup including insurance, equipment and paint. Ongoing support includes tips on credit card processing, retail support and distributor contacts.

Independent studio owners also have access to liability insurance and disability insurance, the latter available in certain areas. Other benefits include retail discounts, special offers for online scheduling, continuing education programs and access to industry events. The company hosts community gatherings for renters, such as cocktail parties and family picnics.

Sola also offers a franchising program for those who want to open and operate a Sola Salon Studios location.

Sola treats suite renting as an independent-business model, giving professionals their own space and business support while leaving day-to-day operations to each renter.
