Sola Salons Peter's Township

Sola Salons is a suite rental business rather than a traditional salon with a shared staff. Its mission is to give beauty and wellness professionals rental space in which to build their own businesses. The company says it has worked with professionals for more than 20 years and has over 750 locations across the U.S. and Canada, and it reports 14 locations in the Pittsburgh area. Each location is a franchise that is independently owned and operated, and each professional or business inside is independently owned too.

The Peters Township location offers one-, two-, or three-chair studios. Each suite comes with a styling chair, a shampoo bowl, utilities, full-spectrum lighting, instant hot water, and a breakroom, plus on-site laundry, janitorial services, bathroom facilities, and 24/7 security. Every suite has its own lock and key on a glass door. Access hours vary by location, and the company advertises round-the-clock access.

Suite holders pay one weekly fee that covers all utilities and Wi-Fi, and the company says there are no surprise fees. Suite holders set their own service and product prices and choose which brands and products they carry, and they keep all of the profits from both. The company states that renting a private suite costs about the same as renting a chair or booth in a traditional salon.

The business presents itself as a rental platform that leaves pricing, product choice, and day-to-day operations to each independent suite holder.
