Sola Salons

Sola's Hauppauge location is a building of 28 private salon suites rather than a salon with employees. Each suite is rented to an independent professional, who runs their own business inside it. The site describes its wider community as more than 20,000 independent business owners.

Renters pay one weekly fee that covers utilities and Wi-Fi. They set their own service and product prices, keep all profits, choose their own work hours, and have exclusive use of their own supplies and equipment. They also choose the brands and products they sell and keep the profit from them.

Each suite has sound-insulated walls and a glass door with its own lock and key, and renters can personalize the space with their own artwork, music, furniture and decor. Suites have full-spectrum lighting and instant hot water. The building offers on-site laundry, 24/7 security and spacious hallways with seating for clients, though suite access hours vary by location.

The location sits at the corner of Veterans Memorial Highway and Route 111, about two minutes from Long Island Expressway exit 56, and is reachable from the Northern State, Sagtikos / Sunken Meadow and Routes 347, 454 and 111. The company says a personal suite can cost about the same as renting a chair or booth in a traditional salon.

Each Sola Salon Studios franchise is independently owned and operated, and each professional or business in a Sola suite is independently owned and operated. Sola Salons says it is not responsible for those businesses' operations or personnel.

Sola operates as a landlord for independent professionals, so each renter runs their own pricing, schedule, product choices and client relationships.
