Sola Salons is on the second floor of Oakwood Square, a shopping plaza at N. Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Boulevard, across the street from the Boynton Beach Mall. The building sits next to a dance studio and above a deli.

The business works as a suite rental rather than a traditional salon. Each professional leases a private suite with an individual lock and key on a glass door and runs their own business from it. They set their own hours, service and product prices, choose the brands they sell and keep the profits. Each suite includes a styling chair, shampoo bowl and utilities, along with full-spectrum lighting and sound-insulated walls.

Shared facilities include 24/7 security, a breakroom, bathrooms, janitorial service, instant hot water and on-site laundry. Renters decide their own artwork, music, furniture and decor, and the weekly fee has no additional charges.

The location is independently owned and operated as part of the Sola Salon Studios franchise, and each professional and business in the building is independently owned as well. The company says renting a suite costs about the same as renting a chair or booth, and it describes a community of more than 20,000 independent business owners.
