Sola Salons

Sola Salons offers private salon suites for rent at its Amherst location, where independent beauty professionals run their own businesses. Renters include hairstylists, estheticians, medical estheticians, permanent makeup artists, lash techs, barbers and nail technicians.

Each suite comes equipped with full-spectrum lighting, sound-insulated walls, ventilation, instant hot water, Wi-Fi, a shampoo bowl and a styling chair. The location also provides utilities, 24/7 security, individual studio locks and bathroom facilities. Renters pay one weekly fee that covers all utilities and Wi-Fi.

Stylists who rent a suite pick the brands and products they carry and keep every dollar those sales bring in. Renters can get liability coverage, and disability coverage too, though that second option depends on where the suite is. Other perks include reduced prices on retail goods, deals for booking appointments online, ongoing education courses, and admission to trade events.

The business says it has a community of more than 20,000 independent business owners and describes its suite community as the largest community of independent studio owners. It hosts community events for local renters, such as cocktail parties and family picnics. Access hours vary by location. Each franchise location is independently owned and operated, and each professional or business at a location is independently owned and operated.

Independent studio model in which each renter runs a separate business from a private suite, with full control over the brands and products they sell.
