The studios are built for beauty professionals who run their own businesses rather than working as employees of a salon.
Each studio has its own glass door with an individual lock and key. Suites include a styling chair and shampoo bowl, and building amenities cover utilities, 24/7 security, full-spectrum lighting, sound-insulated walls, ventilation and janitorial service. Shared spaces include on-site laundry, a breakroom and bathroom facilities. Suite access is 24/7, though hours vary by location.
Suite owners set their own service and product prices, choose the brands and products they sell, and keep all profits from both. They also set their own work hours and have exclusive use of their supplies and equipment. Owners can personalize their studio with their own artwork, music, furniture and decor.
The rent is a single weekly fee that includes all utilities and Wi-Fi. The business says the cost is similar to renting a chair or booth in a traditional salon. It describes its wider community as more than 20,000 independent business owners.
