Ashley Grenier founded Smooth Obsession in 2020. She built her career over several years at a chain wax salon, where she moved up to a trainer role for the company.

The business has two locations: one in Edina, inside Salon Lofts, and one in New Prague, inside Lasting Impressions Salon. The Edina studio is open Thursday from 11 to 7, Friday from 9 to 3:30, and every other Saturday from 9 to 5. The New Prague studio is open Tuesday from 11 to 7 and Wednesday from 8 to 3:30. All visits are by appointment only, and a credit card on file is required to hold each booking. Clients more than 5 minutes late may need to reschedule, and that counts as a no-show. Cancellations need at least 48 hours' notice; later cancellations are charged 50 percent of the service total, and no-shows are charged the full total. Services and these fees are non-refundable, and clients with an unpaid invoice cannot book until it is settled. Clients who are unhappy with a service can contact the business to arrange a touch-up.

Before a wax, hair should be at least 1/4 inch long. For 48 hours afterward, clients should avoid tanning beds, swimming pools, hot tubs and baths, and should not exfoliate. Exfoliation is recommended starting 48 hours after waxing. Most clients wax every 4 to 6 weeks.
