About

Smooth Forever Electrolysis offers electrolysis, which the studio describes as the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. The site says the method has been used since 1875. The studio is open every day from 11am to 10pm, and visits are by appointment only.

According to the studio, electrolysis can work on any hair type or color, including white, grey, blonde and red hair, and on any skin tone. Treatment covers all areas of the body, with common areas listed for women, men and teens. Clients who can book include women, men, teens 13 and older with parental consent, transgender women and transgender men. Electrolysis is not performed inside the nose or ear, and Brazilian hair removal is not offered.

Treatments are performed by a licensed, board-certified electrologist. Staff wear a mask and gloves throughout each session. A new sterile, single-use probe is opened in front of the client for every treatment and disposed of in a sharps container afterward, and the studio says its tweezers are sterilized by soaking in Barbicide followed by dry-heat sterilization. The studio says it uses 24k gold probes.

Session length depends on how much hair is being treated and how much the client can tolerate, so visits range from about 15 minutes to several hours. Because hair grows in cycles, the studio explains that a series of treatments is needed over time, and coarser hairs may need more than one pass. Clients are asked to shave or trim the area three to five days ahead and to avoid tweezing or waxing between sessions. Some redness is possible afterward and usually fades within an hour or two, and an ice pack is provided. Numbing cream is available for an extra $10 when arriving 30 minutes to an hour before the session. Clients unsure how long to book can send a photo of the area for a time recommendation.

Session rates are fixed. Prepaying a minimum of 10 hours brings 10% off, though the package cannot be combined with other offers and cannot reduce a session below the regular rate. Unused package hours are refunded at the regular session rate, and prepaid hours can be shared with friends or family on request. Parking is available in a 24-hour secured garage at $2 per hour, and it can be validated. Payment options include cash, major cards, HSA and FSA cards, and several digital wallets and apps, and receipts are emailed to clients.

The studio emphasizes sterile, single-use probes for each treatment, documented sterilization for reusable tools, and masks and gloves for every session.
