Treatments are performed with a Candela GentleLase Plus laser set to a 755nm wavelength, a 3msec pulse duration and an 18mm spot size. Before each pulse, a Dynamic Cooling Device sprays a cryogen onto the skin to cool it. Clients do not need numbing creams or anesthetics, and no creams, gels, pre-treatment waxing or needles are involved. Nearly any area can be treated, though the business does not treat the underside of the eyebrow for safety reasons. A small area such as the upper lip takes roughly five minutes, while full legs can take up to an hour. Permanent hair reduction usually requires approximately four to six sessions. According to the business, the laser is FDA approved. The business also holds a license from the New York City Health Department and says it follows OSHA environmental standards.
Booking starts with a brief consultation by text, email or phone. Most clients do not need an in-office visit: a photo of skin color often lets the business judge candidacy. An in-office consultation carries a $50 deposit that is non-refundable, and no extra fees apply if the client does not go ahead or is not a good candidate. Clients with pigmented skin, or who are unsure about a recent tan, get a two-minute spot test with results within 48 hours. Tanned skin cannot be treated until the tan has faded. First-time clients leave a deposit of $25 to $400 to hold a treatment appointment; it can be paid at checkout and is applied to the final bill. Cancelling with 48 hours notice refunds the deposit in full, cancelling with 24 hours notice refunds half, and no-shows or same-day cancellations forfeit it. Prices are quoted per area and depend on the treatment plan, the areas and the amount of hair, with package and multiple-area discounts available. Clients are seen only at their booked time, as the business does not double-book.
Before a visit, areas within reach should be shaved the day before or the day of treatment, and anything out of reach is shaved at the salon. Clients should avoid tweezing, waxing, electrolysis or bleaching for as long as they can beforehand, and arrive without makeup, deodorant or moisturizer on the treated area where possible. Broad spectrum SPF 60 sunscreen is advised during treatment and SPF 45 once treatments are finished. Some pinkness at the treatment site is normal and may last from several minutes to a full day. Treated hair may shed five to thirty days afterward. Waxing, tweezing or electrolysis between sessions does no harm but slows progress.
Beyond laser work, the business offers a one-day laser hair removal training program, either privately or in a group. It covers the technical side of laser hair removal and how to calibrate and operate the GentleLase Plus, with hands-on practice and ongoing practical guidance after the class. Students who want to continue can apply to become apprentices, and training rates are available through the inquiry form on the training page. Massage sessions are priced at $150 for 60 minutes, $175 for 75 minutes and $200 for 90 minutes. Gift cards are sold as eGift cards in amounts of $50, $100, $130, $200 or a custom amount, and can be bought for one person or as a group gift that pools contributions.
Every client is treated with respect and consideration for their anxieties. Laser work is built around screening for candidacy first and a treatment method that uses no numbing creams or needles.
The treatment room feels modern, comfortable and calming, in a setting the business describes as serene, private and supportive.
