Smooth Cheeks opened in 2013 as a skincare boutique on Santa Monica Boulevard. Its owner, Gabriel Suarez, is a licensed esthetician who had worked at several well-known West Hollywood salons and spas before starting his own business. Today the salon also offers body grooming, waxing and massage.

The salon sits on the second floor, with windows overlooking the street, and free parking is available. Clients are asked to arrive five minutes early, and arriving more than 15 minutes late is treated as a no-show. Booking more than one service brings a discount.

The facial menu runs from a 40-minute express deep facial, which includes extractions, exfoliation and steam without massage, to a 60-minute acne facial that uses electric currents and high frequency. A 40-minute Nuts and Bolts facial suits clients who want something quick. Chemical peels include a PCA peel, which is 30 minutes and involves some downtime, and a discounted TCA peel. Add-ons include a collagen mask, a light treatment with no downtime offered as a pumpkin, lactic/glycolic/salicylic or retinol peel, and targeted serums applied with a galvanic machine.

Body services cover full body grooming, which takes 90 minutes and starts at $220, and grooming by area. One hour of grooming, excluding legs and arms, is free with any service that takes one hour. Waxing removes hair from the root, and the salon notes that regrowth is softer and slower than after shaving. Waxing is not recommended for sensitive skin, and clients who notice irritation or ingrown hairs after a wax are asked to call the salon. Anal lightening is a 30-minute treatment for pigmentation in intimate areas.
