SkinSpirit was started in 2003 by Lynn Heublein, its CEO and co-founder, and Dr. M Dean Vistnes, the company's corporate medical director and a board-certified plastic surgeon. Heublein has an MBA from Stanford. According to the company, it was the nation's first medical clinic to provide full-range aesthetic services, and it describes itself as a pioneer in medical aesthetics. SkinSpirit runs dozens of clinics across the country, some inside Nordstrom stores and a few operating as pop-ups.

About

Medical care is led by a Medical Advisory Board that includes Dr. Vistnes and Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani. Injections are performed by registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, overseen by a Medical Director. Every provider completes a customized training process and is signed off by the Medical Director before performing services.

A visit usually starts with a consultation, which is free and conducted by licensed medical professionals including doctors, nurses and estheticians. It includes a skin assessment and a treatment plan the company says is custom made for each client. Injectable pricing depends on the person, their concerns and their location, so a complimentary consultation is needed for a quote. Botox and filler can often be done the same day as the consultation. Numbing time is part of the appointment, so clients do not need to arrive early. Facials are tailored to skin type and performed by aestheticians.

Client records are shared across clinics, so a provider can see a client's treatment and product history if they switch providers or clinics.

The company says its treatment plans are custom made for each client and that its treatments are medically backed and designed to give natural-looking results. It states its aim is to recruit and train professionals and to promote technology and procedures it considers safe and meaningful.
