Before an appointment, patients stop using Retin-A two days in advance and pause aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil supplements, St. John's Wort, ibuprofen (Motrin), Advil and naproxen (Aleve) one to two weeks ahead. Arriving with an empty stomach is not recommended, and anyone with an active cold sore needs to rebook. The treatment is not available during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Botox usually takes three to seven days to begin working and up to ten days to judge the result. Filler results can take up to two weeks to settle. Follow-up visits are scheduled at least ten days after Botox and fourteen days after filler.
