Skin Edit is a skin care practice in Lake Orion that opened in 2019. Kari Torkko came up with the idea for the business and owns it. Before starting Skin Edit she worked at a med spa for several years, and her background also includes a current role as vice president of recruiting in the engineering sector. Philip Hellman, MD, has been the medical director since the practice was founded.

A skin care consultation is free and runs about an hour and a half. During it, the team reviews the client's current routine and skin goals, then goes over the options that fit. Treatments are planned around what the client wants to address rather than a fixed menu.

Laser hair removal uses a diode laser and is offered for both face and body areas. Every package includes nine sessions. Because hair has to be in its growth phase to be treated, sessions are spaced out over several months. Full leg treatment is priced separately from the smaller areas.

Facials run 35 minutes and cost $85. The Glow & Go Facial is a longer option that combines deep cleansing, dermaplaning, three types of exfoliation, red light therapy, ALASTIN products and face massage. The standard facial includes a hydrating mask, corrective lotions, soothing serums, extractions and massage of the neck, shoulders and face. Chemical peels use the VI Peel system in several formulations, priced at $265.

The laser menu includes Moxi, a non-ablative treatment for uneven pigmentation, fine lines, texture and tone, with low to no downtime and year-round availability. Erbium is a resurfacing laser for the face, neck, chest and hands; skin usually begins to shed three to five days after treatment, and Erbium can be combined with other laser treatments on the same day. BBL H.E.R.O. is a broadband light treatment, and vascular treatment combines it with Spectrum Long Pulsed YAG for facial veins, spider veins and small vascular lesions. Vascular plans are customized, and pricing depends on the size of the area. The practice uses Sciton lasers and describes itself as a member of The Collective, a partnership with Elivate Vitamin Therapy and Wellness and Flawless.inj.
