Silkpress Xpress

Silkpress Xpress was founded by Kalyse Ghattas to serve clients who wear naturally textured hair straight. The salon uses the term straight natural for this kind of styling, and its work centers on keeping hair healthy so the results hold up between visits.

Services are built around hair health. A silk press can be completed on healthy, properly shaped hair within 30 minutes to an hour, and smoothing treatments are designed to make hair easier to manage and to extend how long results last. Haircuts are recommended every 6 to 8 weeks, and no longer than 12 weeks, to keep hair healthy and prevent split ends.

New clients book either the New Client Package, which includes steam hydration, a blowout, precision pressing and a customized cut and style, or the New Client Smoothing Treatment. Clients are considered new if they have not received services at the salon in the last 90 days. A minimum $50 deposit is due at booking for new appointments, and deposits are non-refundable.

When booking, clients choose a stylist level: Stylist, Pro Stylist or Master Stylist. Levels are based on experience, and service times can vary by level.

Cancellations 24 hours or more ahead forfeit the initial down payment. Cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment forfeit the down payment and require a $25 same-day cancellation fee before the client can book again. Unpaid cancellation fees restrict future booking until the balance is cleared.

The salon puts healthy hair first and builds each service around hair health, using Olaplex, Redken Acidic Bonding or HydraSilk systems.

The salon describes its space as refined and free of judgment.
