About

Shangri-La Spa was founded in 2009 by Naren McIntosh, an esthetician and Reiki master who had spent about ten years at the medical spa Ajune on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The spa has two Oyster Bay addresses. The Audrey Avenue location lists hours from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The spa's stated aim is to care for skin and help clients improve the overall quality of their lives. Facials are the core of the menu, with options from a 15-minute alpha hydroxy peel that can be added to any facial up to a 90-minute signature treatment. The Shangri-La Path Signature Facial uses Natura Bisse Diamond Line products, LED Miracle Waves and finishes with full-body Reiki. The spa describes Fresh Glow Facial as one of its most popular, and it includes skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, moisture and a neck and shoulder massage.

SilkPeel, which the spa calls its newest treatment, uses dermalinfusion: skin is drawn into diamond tips in a wand while serum is applied to the abraded skin. It is described as addressing sun-related discoloration, acne, cellulite and stretch marks.

Body treatments include a Chocolate Body Wrap that starts with a sea salt scrub and then uses a warm wrap of chocolate mixed with Dead Sea mud, a Detoxifying Seaweed Wrap with essential oils and a warm seaweed mask, and a Body Facial with an alpha hydroxy peel, omega-3 body oil and light stroke massage. Energy healing sessions are offered to support stress reduction, emotional and physical well-being and energy balance.

New clients can book a free skin consultation by phone or in person. Skin analysis looks at how diet and lifestyle affect the skin, and the spa offers advice on eating and on building a skin regimen. Gift certificates can be for a chosen service or for any amount, with the recipient picking the treatment. They can be mailed or sent electronically to print, and certificates for facials, energy healing or body treatments are ordered by phone.

Combines equipment and products comparable to those in high-end medical spas with a whole-person philosophy that connects skin health to overall wellness.
