SHAG

SHAG was started in 2024 by Dana and Jess, who met on the first day of beauty school in 2008. The space draws on a shared love of vintage style and is set up as a mix of different inspirations.

The salon aims to keep hair and scalp healthy by using as few chemicals as possible. It carries Color Space color and lightener, which the salon describes as science-driven and cruelty free. It also stocks Amika and BOB haircare; according to the salon, both lines are Certified B Corp. Amika products are free of sulfates and parabens, cruelty free and packed in 100% recycled packaging, while BOB uses clean, green and sustainable ingredients.

Haircuts start at $50, or $40 when added to another service. For a cut, the stylist looks at the style the client wants and picks the cutting methods, tools and styling products to match it. Coloring starts at $80 and is applied on the scalp. Full foiling, starting at $120, suits clients who want a lot of highlights, babylights or balayage, usually across the whole head. Mini foiling, starting at $90, covers the face and top of the head for subtler dimension in light or dark hair. Color through the ends, toning, foiling or cutting added to a color service costs extra, depending on how much color the hair needs. Root touch-ups start at $80 and include washing and styling.

Hair treatments, starting at $35, address dryness, damage, an itchy scalp, and buildup from hard water or chlorine. Specialty styling, starting at $75, is for weddings, dances and galas. Bridal parties are arranged by contacting the salon directly. A free consultation is offered.
