Kimberly Nielsen has run Serenity as its sole practitioner and proprietor since 2000. The studio describes itself as a holistic beauty and wellbeing business, set up for one-on-one appointments on the second floor of a Hampden Drive building in Easton.
The facial menu ranges from a 30-minute mini facial to longer treatments. Fill Your Cup is a short facial with cleansing, exfoliation, massage, serum and moisturizer. The Serenity is a deep pore-cleansing facial tailored to each client's skin care needs, taking an hour or more, with steam, extraction, and a massage of the arms, face, neck, shoulders and scalp using essential oils, finished with a natural mask. Other facials include the Purifying Facial, which uses a Dead Sea mud mask and suits all skin types, the Intensive Deep Pore Facial, which can be paired with a Floracide treatment, and the Chocolate Silk Decadence Facial, built around raw cacao, which the salon says is rich in antioxidants and flavonoids.
For longer sessions, the Rejuvenescence uses deep exfoliation, a rejuvenating massage, a vitamin C and sea algae mask, and organic rose and immortelle essential oils. Hot Stone Bliss adds a hot stone massage of the face, neck and shoulders with a hydrating ampoule and mask. The Moonlight Mermaid includes steam, a caviar complex serum ampoule and a spirulina and vitamin C mask, and it does not include extractions unless one is added. The Ultimate Serenity combines the Rejuvenescence with the Timeless Eyes treatment and massage of the neck, shoulders, lower legs and feet.
Brow and lash tinting each take about 30 minutes, and lash tint results last two to four weeks. A first lash tint includes a consultation to choose a color. Waxing covers the face, underarms, arms, upper body, legs, feet and toes, and bikini area, with bikini waxes done in Premium Signature Mermaid Wax, an elastic hard wax, in four named styles. A Lacto-Flora peel by Pevonia can be added to any facial for $5 off.
Most services use the owner's own natural skin care preparations, alongside the Serene Earth line of natural products she handcrafts. Visitors can borrow from a free library of books on site. Gift cards come in set or custom amounts, and gift certificates are non-refundable but can be transferred to another person to use.
