Serene Sugaring is a sugaring hair removal salon in Billy Penn Studios on the third floor, Suite 31, in Philadelphia. Owner and lead sugarista Deja Camp has been sugaring since 2021 and chose the method because it is gentle on sensitive skin. The salon describes its approach as gentle sugaring paired with customized aftercare.

Sugaring is done with a paste made from sugar, water and lemon juice. The paste is warmed to body temperature, applied against the direction of hair growth and lifted off in the direction of growth. Before treatment, the skin is cleansed with an alcohol-free, fragrance-free cleanser and dusted with a talc-free powder called Pixie Powder. After treatment, remaining sugar and powder are wiped away with a warm towel, and the aftercare includes a pH-balancing toner and a moisturizer chosen for the individual client.

Each visit begins with a consultation about the condition of the skin and which sugaring method suits it. To help clients stay comfortable, the salon uses breathing exercises, a stress ball and pressure applied after each removal. Deja talks with clients during the treatment.

The salon offers sugaring for all genders, and the service list covers Brazilian, bikini, underarm, face and full-body areas. Customized body treatments for skin care are also available, including intimate skincare and targeted treatments. Areas not on the services list can be requested by inquiry. According to the salon, many clients find they can go longer between appointments with regular sugaring, which it says also reduces ingrown hairs and gradually thins regrowth.
