Sereen Hair is a private studio for women experiencing medical hair loss, located at 478 Main Street in Islip. The space is described as spa-like and is set up for adult clients only, with appointments by booking. Consultations can be held virtually or in person, and wig fittings can also be done remotely.

The studio was founded by Nikeya Sereen Burnett, a licensed cosmetologist who designs custom wigs around each client's needs. Its work includes custom extensions, luxury bundles, natural-looking wigs, sew-ins, microlinks, and wig maintenance. Sereen Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit based in New York, is connected to the studio. Ten percent of hair extension and bundle sales go to the foundation, which funds free medical wigs for people without insurance benefits, educational programs, and resources for people in treatment.

Clients begin with a consultation in one of three tiers, and new clients complete a form to be approved before requesting appointment times. Walk-ins are not accepted. Children are not permitted at appointments, and the studio does not cut children's hair. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday.

The studio also handles insurance paperwork on a client's behalf. It verifies benefits, submits claims, follows up with insurers, and appeals a denied claim once, providing all correspondence to the client. The insurer makes the final decision, and claims can take 30 to 90 days depending on the insurer. Sereen is currently out of network with insurers and says it is working to become in-network. Insurance may cover a Sereen wig for alopecia, cancer-related hair loss, and other medication-related hair loss.

The studio focuses on custom wigs designed around each client's needs, paired with direct work with insurers on wig coverage.
