SENDY CHU BROWS

Sendy Chu Brows is a permanent makeup studio in Lorain, Ohio, with services in two groups: powder brows and brow correction. A large part of the work is covering or fixing older microblading and brow tattoos, and the studio reviews each correction before booking.

Ombre powder brows are built up from tiny dots of pigment that give the brow depth. The brow shape is agreed with the client during the appointment, before numbing, and the pigment is matched to blend with the client's natural brow hairs. Topical lidocaine numbs the area, and a visit usually takes two to three hours. Makeup on the brows, forehead and eyelids is wiped off first, while liner, lashes and lips can stay on. Shaping or waxing beforehand is optional. Healing averages seven to ten days, with some swelling and redness possible and no downtime. Powder brows typically last about 12 to 36 months with aftercare. Sun exposure, tanning, chemical peels and oily skin can shorten that. Brow correction usually takes more than one session, and the studio does not take on every correction job; recommendations depend on skin condition and the client's brow goals. Correction clients send a photo of their current brows for approval before booking.

Booking requires a $100 deposit, paid by link after the client picks a date with the artist. The deposit goes toward the total and is non-refundable, and an appointment is not considered booked until it is paid. Clients bring photo ID, and the studio takes major credit and debit cards, Venmo and cash, but not checks or money orders. Before booking, clients complete a health check. Blood thinners and Accutane within the past year rule out treatment, and clients with an autoimmune disease need a doctor's note.

Listed prices are plus tax. Ombre powder brow first sessions are listed at $650, with 6-12 week touch-ups at $100 and annual touch-ups at $250. Brow correction first sessions are listed at $700, with annual touch-ups at $250 and saline removal at $100 per session. Training options include one-on-one private training at $3,500 and 4-to-1 group training at $2,850. The group course is a three- to four-day beginner powder brow class covering the procedure, the business side of brows and sanitation, and it includes a starter kit with a machine, pigments and supplies. Ohio does not require a cosmetology or aesthetics license to run a permanent makeup business, though other states have their own rules.
