Scalp Micro SD

Scalp Micro SD is a scalp micropigmentation studio at 11611 Rancho Bernardo Rd, Suite 105, in the Rancho Bernardo community of San Diego. The salon describes its mission as restoring confidence through artistry, personalized care and techniques it calls industry-leading. SMP is offered for hair loss, thinning, balding and scalp scarring, including scars from hair transplants, the effects of burns, and hair loss linked to conditions such as alopecia. The studio offers SMP across Fitzpatrick skin types 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6, and for FUE and FUT scars. Beard micropigmentation and permanent makeup for brows, lips and eyeliner are also offered.

Booking usually starts with a consultation: an in-person 30-minute visit for $50, or a 30-minute phone call with an artist covering treatment areas, sessions needed, and pricing and payment. Returning clients do not need one. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required to book any service and is applied to the total. Clients must be 18 or older and cannot book PMU while pregnant or breastfeeding. Clients who arrive sick have their appointment canceled and are charged as a same-day cancellation. Payment plans run through Cherry, with 0% APR options subject to eligibility and interest-bearing plans from 5.99%; according to Cherry, applying does not affect credit.

Listed PMU prices are Ombre Powder Brows, Nano Hairstroke brows and Combo Brows at $650 each, Eyeliner at $500, Lip Blush and Lip Neutralization at $550 each, correction or cover-up of previous work at $750, Color Boost at $450-550+ for existing clients, and touch-ups at $150 each. Permanent makeup typically lasts 2-3 years with touch-ups or color refreshes.

The studio offers a 3-day in-person SMP training intensive taught by Alex Alshayeb, along with PMU training and mentorship for beginner and advanced artists. Alex and Henna Alshayeb established PIGMENT, a PMU training and education effort, and Henna's earlier PMU work was under the name Pigment Cosmetics Tattoo. The salon lists partnerships with FYT, Folicule, Microbeau, Balm Micro and Ink Beetle, and says its clients travel from across the US and internationally.
