Co-founded by married partners Bik Shrestha and Sokkha Va, Scalp Guy SMP offers scalp micropigmentation as a non-surgical way to restore the look of hair. The studio is at 281 Main St, Suite 202, in Wilmington, inside Brow Lady Microblading Studio, and it draws clients from Boston, Cambridge and Lowell as well as from out of state.
SMP places tiny dots of pigment on the scalp to mimic the look of natural follicles. The studio uses medical-grade pigments made for the scalp rather than regular tattoo ink. Most people complete the work in two to three sessions spaced two to three weeks apart. The studio says results fade gradually over four to six years, depending on skin type, sun exposure and aftercare.
Treatment is not pain-free, though the studio says most clients describe it as light scratching or tapping, and sessions move at the client's pace. Most people return to work the next day, and the scalp may stay red for a day or two. Before treatment, clients avoid blood thinners, alcohol and aspirin for 48 hours, caffeine for 24 hours, and retinols, exfoliants or self-tanners on the scalp for a week. For the first five days afterward, heavy sweating, scrubbing, shaving and direct sun are discouraged.
Pricing runs from $500 to $1,500 per session, depending on the area treated: hairline, crown, full scalp or scar. Corrective work is also offered for older SMP or transplant scars where the pigment has faded and the skin is healthy. Visitors can take an online quiz to see whether SMP may suit them, or book a free consultation online or in person.
Starts conservatively and builds density over two to three sessions, matching pigment tone to each client's skin and existing hair.
The studio describes a calm, private setting with strict hygiene protocols.
