Salon Shear Genius

Shear Genius sits on Lincoln Highway in Thorndale and draws clients from Kennett Square, West Chester, Downingtown, Exton, Coatesville, Caln, Chester Springs, Frazer, Honey Brook, Lionville, Parkesburg and Thorndale itself. According to the salon, Thorndale once served as a countryside getaway for President James Buchanan.

The stated mission is to deliver strong results in a welcoming, professional setting built around teamwork. The salon says every client receives individual attention, good-quality service and good value. Listed prices are starting points and can move with the result wanted, hair length and hair density.

Walk-ins are welcome, and the salon is open Tuesday 9 to 5, Wednesday through Friday 9 to 8, and Saturday and Sunday 9 to 4. Phone is 610-380-3435. Complimentary WiFi is available. Color may need more product once it is underway, and the stylist states any added cost before applying it. The salon may photograph or video results for marketing, and clients can opt out by telling their stylist before the appointment.

A valid credit card is required to hold all appointments. Cancelling or rescheduling 24 or more hours ahead through Phorest has no charge. A cancellation within 24 hours or a no-show is charged the full booked service price. New clients prepay the full service total at booking, which is non-refundable if they no-show. Existing clients booking services of $100 or more pay a 50% deposit. Clients with a prior no-show must prepay in full for later appointments. Arriving 15 or more minutes late, in a way that prevents completing the service in the remaining time, counts as a no-show. Reminders go out two days ahead by text, email or both.

Cash, Apple Pay and major credit cards are accepted. Credit card payments carry a 3% adjustment that cash and debit payments avoid. Gratuities are not included and are at the client's discretion, but cannot be added to card payments. Gift certificates are sold in the salon or through Phorest and are non-refundable and not redeemable for cash. The service guarantee lets clients request a free correction within 5 calendar days of a service, completed within 7 days of the original date, performed in the salon. Work done elsewhere is not credited. The salon offers adjustments rather than refunds, with salon credit possible at management's discretion in rare disputes. Retail products can be returned within 7 days with proof of purchase if unused and in original packaging, while tools and hair accessories are final sale.

The salon is a member of Locks of Love, the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce and the Coatesville Christmas Parade. According to the salon, it received the 2014 Best of Thorndale Award in the Beauty Salons category from the Thorndale Award Program.

A welcoming, professional, team-focused salon aiming for individual attention and good value at every visit.
