Salon Ruggeri began in a third-floor walkup in Chelsea. Master stylist Gregorio Ruggeri founded it with interior designer Craig Longhurst, and it opened in NoMad in 2015 according to Time Out. In 2019 the salon moved to a West Side townhouse beside the High Line, with the salon on the lower floors.

The founders meant the space to be a place where people gather and talk, and they designed it as a retreat from city life where clients can take inspiration from their surroundings. Art and sculpture fill the interior, and the midcentury-modern furniture was sourced from auction houses and flea markets; the furniture is available to purchase. The owners say the room is changed regularly so that each visit feels different.

Every appointment is handled by one master stylist from start to finish, with no assistants, covering the cut, color and style. Chemical services include complimentary treatments. Balayage is used when foiling or for color correction.

The salon says Allure and Time Out New York have included it in their Best Of rankings. Time Out also named it one of the best hair salons in New York City in a 2022 guide. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice; a cancellation made inside that window is charged 50% of the scheduled cost.

Focused on one-on-one haircutting and color, with a master stylist working on every service and an emphasis on hair and scalp health through trichology consultations.

The interior is filled with art and sculpture and furnished with midcentury-modern pieces sourced from auction houses and flea markets.
