Hideko Hayes founded Salon Island Beauty in 2013. The business now runs from two locations: the Honolulu salon in Century Center, and the Kapolei salon near the H1 exit, which the salon describes as completely private.

About

The salon says its goal is to offer lash and permanent makeup services that are dependable, gentle on clients and within reach for both women and men. The lash menu includes classic sets, volume fans, hybrid and wet look styles, and flat lashes. LED lash extensions use an adhesive that is cured under a lamp.

Permanent makeup includes nano feather brows, powder ombre brows, eyeliner, lip blushing and scalp micropigmentation, plus removal and color correction of older work. Each session starts with a consultation and design, uses topical numbing, and finishes with aftercare using a soothing gel. The salon describes its permanent makeup as industry-leading, a claim it makes about itself.

Areola reconstruction micropigmentation is offered after breast cancer surgery through a partnership with a medical clinic in Japan that specializes in micropigmentation.

The salon works by appointment only, and the Kapolei location takes no walk-ins. Honolulu is open Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, and closed Sunday; Kapolei is open on Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Cancellations or reschedules need 48 hours' notice, with a $40 fee for lash appointments and a $100 fee for permanent makeup cancelled later than that. No-shows are billed the full service, clients more than 15 minutes late may be asked to reschedule, and a $50 non-refundable deposit is needed for permanent makeup or a new volume lash set. Clients are asked to arrive without eye makeup for lash appointments. Honolulu offers private rooms on request made in advance and has assigned and guest parking stalls, while Kapolei has street parking on Kakala Street.
