Salon Institute trains students in cosmetology at campuses in Lewis Center and Toledo, Ohio. Each campus is set up to resemble a professional salon, and students work on real guests, so the salon services listed here are the training itself.

About

Every salon service is performed by a student under the supervision of a licensed instructor. Clients should know that services are done by students and that refunds are not offered on student-performed services.

The school offers three programs, all approved by the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology: a 1,200-clock-hour Hair Design program covering cutting, styling, color theory, chemical services and consultation; a 1,500-hour Cosmetology program adding manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and makeup; and an 1,800-hour Advanced Cosmetology program that builds on the 1,500-hour course with 300 more hours, including Babe Hair Extension Education, Bella Lash Extension Education and a salon management course. Full-time and flex-time schedules are available, and career placement help is offered to all graduates.

Both campuses have modern salon floors, a student salon, a financial aid office and student resources. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:30am to 4:00pm; the campuses are closed on Sundays.

Color services carry extra fees for additional color, and thermal styles at the Columbus campus that run longer than one hour are charged $20 per hour. The Columbus campus lists an all-over color from $50 and full highlights from $60; the Toledo campus lists them from $36 and $56.

Training is hands-on: students work on real clients under licensed instructor supervision. The school says this approach builds skill faster than classroom-heavy programs, and that its classes are small enough for one-on-one instructor attention.

Each campus is designed to look like a working professional salon.
