A booked consultation is recommended for color sensitivities, price questions, or very long or thick hair, and a separate consultation for corrective or creative color costs $10. Haircuts include a consultation, shampoo and blowout, with or without curls, and children's haircuts are offered without shampoo. Quiet appointments are available on request by adding a note when booking, and for color the salon does not add color bowls.
Color is a major focus. The salon uses its own ammonia-free, PPD-free, vegan-friendly color line, which the salon says covers white and gray hair fully. Services range from all-over color and tint retouches to partial and full foils, mini foils, balayage and foilayage, with toner or gloss available to add shine or to lower the tone for brunettes who feel too blonde. Bleach and tone calls for a wash 24 to 48 hours beforehand, and significant lightening or complex changes may take more than one visit.
The salon offers discounted New Talent hair model appointments to support stylists' continuing education. These are not runway or promotional modeling, and the stylists may have under three years of professional experience. The salon states that participating New Talent stylists are licensed and have completed accredited cosmetology training under Minnesota requirements.
Appointments stay pending until the salon accepts them, usually within one to two business days. Cancelling or rescheduling with at least 24 hours notice carries no fee; shorter notice brings a fee, and no-shows are charged the full reserved time. Bridal parties may book ahead of a wedding, and group or private party inquiries go to hello@salonabe.com.
