Salon 87

Salon 87 opened in 2018 in a suite on SE 29th Street in Del City. The name comes from numerology tied to the owner's birthday. Erica Trujillo owns the salon and works as a color specialist, alongside a team of stylists and a barber.

The salon describes its setting as relaxed and low-stress, a place where staff can be themselves. It states that it supports the LGBTQ+ community. Stylists set their own schedules, so the salon keeps no fixed opening hours, while online booking and appointment requests are available at any time.

Color work is a main focus. Services include balayage and highlights, gray coverage, custom blonding, custom vivid colors, color corrections, gloss and toning, and gray blending. Custom blonding starts at 225 dollars for subtle work, and color corrections start at 400 dollars. Every custom color includes a cut, Olaplex, toning and styling. New clients booking color need a consultation, which is free and can sometimes be done by email.

Other offerings include cuts for pixie, men's and clipper styles, cuts by length and blow dries, priced from 25 dollars for a pixie, men's or clipper cut up to 75 to 125 dollars for extra-long hair. Keratin smoothing and repair treatments and stand-alone Olaplex treatments are available, as is facial waxing for brows, lip, chin and sideburns.

Salon 87 does not take clients who color their hair at home. Children 12 and under may have non-chemical services only if they are a child of a current client, and they cannot be left unsupervised. Semi-permanent or temporary single-process color is open to children 12 and up with signed parent or guardian consent, and permanent or double-process color to those 13 and up. Children may not stay during a chemical service. Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice, and fees depend on the service booked. The salon is hiring full-time stylists and offers booth rental; applicants are asked to send a short bio and an Instagram link.
