Salon 29

Salon 29 is a hair salon in the historic Garland Building on North Wabash Avenue in Chicago, opposite Macy's. Founded in 1997 by proprietor Juan Acevedo, it operated on Madison Street for 13 years before moving to its current suite at the beginning of 2011.

Visits are by appointment only, and bookings are made by calling (312) 372-2929. The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Parking is available in a garage or by valet, the space is wheelchair accessible, free WiFi is available, and cards are accepted.

The core of the menu is hair: men's and women's haircuts, color with trim and highlights with trim. Prices start at $42 for men's cuts, $68 for women's cuts, $145 for color with trim and $175 for highlights with trim. The salon lists its hair specialties as straight perms, coloring, African-American hair, curly hair, kids' hair, perms and Asian hair.

A nail technician, Georgette, also works at the salon. Nail appointments are booked by appointment only through a separate direct line.

The salon says its stylists are knowledgeable and professional and focus on bringing out each client's personal style.
