Sage Wellness Spa has operated in St. Petersburg since 2012 from 6490 Central Avenue. The spa describes itself as a neighborhood spa for relaxation, and its menu covers massage, skin care, body treatments, waxing, LED therapy and microchanneling.

About

Massage is at the core of the menu. The spa frames regular massage as a restorative part of everyday life rather than an occasional treat, and every massage includes therapeutic hot towels. Sessions leave time for consultation and dressing, so a one-hour booking includes 50 minutes of hands-on work. Clients are asked to shower before body services such as massage, wraps and scrubs, to tell the front desk about any medications when booking, and to drink 12 to 16 oz. of water afterward. Anyone who takes a daily blood thinner, aspirin included, must provide a physician's note approving any massage.

Facials begin with a consultation and skin analysis by an esthetician, and the spa states its estheticians are licensed. Each facial includes cleansing, exfoliation, a mask, moisturizer and sunblock, along with a hand, neck and decollete massage. Clients are advised to arrive without makeup, though it can be removed at the spa. Peels and microdermabrasion are typically booked as a series of three to six sessions. Micro and peel clients should arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to sign a consent form, and waxing clients 5 to 10 minutes early to fill out a waxing consent form. Both forms are also available under the Forms tab on the website.

Couples massages take place in a dedicated couples room, which carries an additional $5 per person for each one-hour massage. Couples massages, spa packages and spa parties are reserved by phone, while other appointments can be booked online with a credit card or gift card. Appointments are set on the hour, such as 10:00 or 11:00. A credit card on file is required to reserve a spa package, and gratuities are not included in package prices. A $40 fee applies to late cancellations or no-shows. Gift cards are available. Hours are Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
