Rosemead Beauty School opened in 1955 and holds state authorization from the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). Across more than six decades it has trained thousands of students in cosmetology, skin care, nail art and massage therapy.
The school runs four courses. The cosmetology program is 1,000 hours and prepares students for the California State Board exam for a cosmetology license. It covers hair styling and cutting, permanent waving, pedicuring, false nails, facials, and scalp and hair treatments. The nail care program is 400 hours and prepares students for the state manicure license exam, with training in manicuring, pedicuring, artificial nail applications, brush-on and tip work, nail wraps and repairs.
The skin care program is 600 hours and prepares students for the California state esthetician license exam. Training covers skin analysis, facials, exfoliation, hair removal, and salon management. The Massage Therapy II course introduces professional massage practice in five phases: history and professional ethics, anatomy and medical terminology, effects and contraindications, massage practice and techniques, and business practices. Graduates are prepared to sit for the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).
Students must be at least high school graduates to enroll. Total tuition and fees are listed as 7,550 dollars for cosmetology, 2,000 dollars for nail care, 4,650 dollars for skin care and 5,900 dollars for Massage Therapy II. Each total includes tuition, a 120-dollar registration fee, a kit and supplies, and a 30-dollar entrance exam or test. The school describes its faculty as experienced and passionate about the industry. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, and the phone number is (626) 286-2146.
Courses are organized around the specific California state licensing exams each program prepares students to take.
