About

Rosel School of Cosmetology was founded in 1989 in Chicago's West Ridge neighborhood by Rosel, a licensed beauty instructor who also owned a salon. The school moved to Niles in 2019 and says it has operated for more than 35 years. It is at 307 Golf Mill Center, at the corner of Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue. Visitors are directed to the AMC theater entrance and parking lot, and the site suggests parking at the mall's west entrance.

The stated mission is to help each student reach their potential through affordable training, scholarships and financial aid, and close monitoring of progress. The aim is to prepare students to pass the Illinois state exam and to work in salons or spas, or to run a business of their own. Enrollment is open, so students can begin once registration is complete and can start at any time of year. Full-time classes run 24 to 40 hours a week and part-time classes 15 to 24 hours a week.

Training takes place in a facility equipped for hair cutting, scalp treatments, hair coloring, facials, manicures, pedicures and massage. The school describes its classes as small, with individualized instruction. Students work with Atomy products, and the Milady curriculum, which the school says it has used for over 30 years, is part of the coursework. The school also says it partners with hair, skin and nail brands and uses their learning materials in its programs.

Salon services are performed by students under supervision and need an appointment, which can be booked by phone at (773) 508-5600 or through the website. Free FAFSA application help, flexible monthly payment plans and financial aid for qualifying applicants in the Cosmetology, Esthetics and Instructor programs are offered. The school states that over 75% of its incoming cosmetology students receive financial aid, and that students who qualify for the maximum Pell Grant have roughly 80% of tuition covered.

The school describes itself as a leading cosmetology school. The school also says it is highly rated by students and clients, citing 147 Google reviews.

Training is hands-on and built around state exam preparation, with business skills taught in every program and each student's progress monitored along the way.

Small classes with individualized instruction, held in a training facility inside a shopping center.
